Individual Therapy
I work with individuals around issues of anxiety, depression, grief, loss, transition, meaning-making, relationships, addiction, trauma, and family conflict. I work collaboratively, from a behavioral change model, setting clear goals at the start of treatment and evaluating our progress as we go. We will evaluate what has worked for you in the past and what needs to change moving forward. Then we will draw on principles of CBT, DBT, or ACT to explore how to begin to explore and accept feelings, work with negative thought patterns, and shift behaviors. Ultimately, you are the expert in your own life, I am just the expert in behavior change.
I also work from an existential framework - exploring meaning making in your life and the systems (family, community) that you find yourself imbedded in and that inform who you are and where you are going.
I create a compassionate and safe space to explore difficult issues. With every client I routinely check-in about the process of our work together, bringing in new modes of treatment and tailoring the therapy to address the specific needs of each client.
My professional orientation is integrative - I draw upon different techniques including Trauma-Informed Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and at the request of clients can incorporate Mindfulness (including guided imagery), Expressive Art Therapy, Archetypes, and Dream Analysis.
I specialize in relationships and life transitions, with further expertise in perinatal and postnatal mental health. Some of my clients include: Self-proclaimed “people pleasers,” who find it challenging to assert themselves, and struggle to set and maintain boundaries with those around them. Couples who find themself stuck in the patterns of daily living and losing the connection that originally brought them together. Older adults struggling with new transitions and new chapters of life, under employment, empty-nesting, isolation. High functioning corporate employees struggling to balance the demands of family and work life. New parents struggling to navigate a new chapter of life, the constant internal pressures to be a perfect parent, while managing the needs of children and constant overstimulation. Adolescents and young adults grappling with the pressures of relationships and school/career in this post-covid era.
