Couples Therapy
Whether you are a couple experiencing conflict or looking to deepen your connection to one another, I provide a space that is directive, compassionate and open. In this space, we explore your goals for our therapy together and work from an attachment perspective.
I am a PACT Level 2 certified therapist, and create a dynamic and experiential space in which we look at and work to repair your relationship. The Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (P.A.C.T.) incorporates three domains, attachment theory, neuroscience, and arousal regulation. We will explore attachment styles, and how you relate to your partner under stress, using in-the-moment interventions to help you move toward more secure functioning. This work is dynamic and sometimes playful, using in-the-moment interventions to help rehabilitate unhelpful patterns of relating and develop more secure functioning and collaborative behaviors. It’s proven to be effective as a short-term model - the goal being to work together to create secure functioning and to get you back out on your own within a limited timeframe. Couples sessions are typically 75 minutes, although we can modify to 50 minutes or biweekly based on needs. My work is also informed by Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and John Gottman’s work on defense mechanisms, but is experientially-rooted, facilitating a space to re-experience the connection that brought you two together in the first place, while giving you the tools and support to repattern unhelpful responses.
